The Seminario Teologico Presbiteriano del Sureste is an institution of the Synod of the Gulf of Mexico that seeks to contribute to the life and mission of the Church of Christ in the southeastern part of our country to ensure the spread of the kingdom within and outside our borders. As a theological institution it is first directed to the formation of those who have been called to the ministry of the Word and of sacred music, impressing on them a strong pastoral sense and a deep sense of communion with the Lord of the harvest and the faithfulness to his word. Also, as a synodical institution it seeks to train church members who serve the Lord in any of the established ministries of the Presbyterian Church. Finally, in fidelity to the call to love God with all our mind, the seminary also aims to encourage theological scholarship so that it demonstrates our theological beliefs in the Presbyterian Church.
Given the diversity of Presbyteries and existing in southeastern Spain cultures, the seminary seeks to be sensitive to that diversity through contextualization of teaching and constructive pedagogy. Also, given the importance of Latin American theology in the global theological sphere, the seminary seeks to take significant and related to our Reformed heritage in pursuit of a comprehensive training of the servants of the Lord contributions.
In addition, the seminary emphasizes the Calvinist and Reformed heritage present in the works of the Reformers and the confessional documents of Reformed and Presbyterian churches. Through this, it seeks to be instrumental in the formation of a Calvinistic worldview in our Presbyterian church. Furthermore, as part of the Presbyterian Church in Mexico emphasizes the study of Scripture, which is our infallible rule of faith and practice, acceptance of the constitution and discipline of the National Presbyterian Church and the transmission of a vision of Presbyterian meaning of life.
